Terrific Tuesday

Tuesday, September 22 ✅. Parents - please sign up for a conference time if you have not done so. Please refer to yesterday's announcement/blog for more information and links. 🇨🇦 SS We have been working on a Canada Map Assignment. Today we focused on completing the provinces and capital cities. 📙 LA We read "Shi Shi Etko," a story about a young girl's four days before she had to leave her family to attend residential school. We completed a reader response using cognitive reading strategies on this story. ❎ Math Students completed another "Mad Minute" focussed on perfect square products (1x1, 2x2, 3x3... 10x10). It is important that your child begin to memorize the basic multiplication facts. We will be working on different strategies (tricks) to help with the memorization. We have begun to talk about factors and factoring. We watched a BrainAntics video (see below). Students began some worksheet activities related to factors. We will work again on these tomorrow. 🎵 Music - Students worked on their Note of Hope. 👨‍🚒. Fire Drill This afternoon, we had a fire drill practice. Students were aware of the drill for this practice. Prior to the drill, we packed up for the end of the day. When we heard the alarm, students exited the building quietly and we walked to our muster point in the large field to take attendance. Prior to dismissal for home, students sanitized their hands. 🌳 Science After the fire drill, we had a wee bit of time to review the difference and similarities between deciduous and coniferous trees.
